A new residence and attached studio in an inner urban location. The site abuts a narrow street providing service delivery access to the rear of a small commercial strip of shops and restaurants. The dwelling form is conceived as an atrium house with separate defined zones for residential and studio functions facing inward to a central courtyard and away from the noise and nuisance of the service access street and neighbouring commercial properties.

The glazed two-storey elevations to the central courtyard include a wrap-around veranda at first floor level to provide weather protection and cleaning access.

Seperate stair entry is provided to the studio from the central courtyard.
