Port Melbourne warehouse conversion
Contract Drawings 2006
Construction 2008
Large warehouse conversion to a single residence and studio/workshop.
The client brief included a preference for industrial building finishes and forms. Glazing, galvanised steel, stainless steel, concrete, concrete blockwork and stained timber boards comprise the building finishes. An acoustic ceiling finish comprised of slatted timber boards over an acoustic blanket is provided to the main ceiling throughout to control acoustic levels.
The original timber frame structure was entirely replaced with a new steel portal frame structure within the retained original building envelope. The original street façade was retained. A central courtyard garden separates the main residence from the studio/workshop.
