Merricks Beach House
Construction 2018
A large triangular site with an existing dwelling, outbuildings, deck and established landscaping. The dwelling was replaced with a new single-storey north-orientated pavilion building.
The construction method includes a galvanised steel-framed structural mullion glazing system and prefabricated roof trusses and walls eliminating the necessity for further structural support elements.
The external cladding envelope consists of galvanised steel and glass. The building is monochromatic on the outside, while inside is an explosion of colour finishes. The colour palette is thematically related to nature, with red floor for earth, green walls and brown joinery for plants, yellow skylight shafts for sun and blue walls integral to the skylight shafts for sky.
